The conclusion of the matter

Unfortunately, I think that this speaks for itself...

Some FRWB poetry...

Well, I was surprised to have had someone comment on my Blog that hasn't been updated in almost two months... It made me realize that there are still people out there that who still share my obsession. Here's their poetic comment:

"A chance encounter with all the complexities of life; there I met her and discovered that truly she is none other: of great mind, of great spirit, of great soul. We talked of life and love but I did not recognize reciprocity: she intertwined in the arms of another, she blind to her own beauty, grace, wit, and charm. Her fallen flavour: From Russia with Buzz. And so I pine the great lost flavour as I yearn for her attention, to seek her company, to long for her warm embrace. From Russia with Buzz, love unrequited, release me from the gates of solemnity and into the arms of she, who is truly none other."

Last day of voting

Well, I guess it is finally over. My obsession with resurrecting FRWB can ironically be laid to rest. I appreciate everyone who tried to make my dream become a reality. I want to think my friends and family who were so supportive during this difficult time. I am sorry to see that the results weren't better. I would like to think I did everything I could, but in my heart I know I didn't. I am embarrassed that I slacked off in my efforts. Know this, if I ever have this opportunity again, I will work even harder to make sure I succeed. I will pay for billboards in major cities, advertise in national newspapers, radio stations, and TV, maybe I'll even get the Goodyear blimp. I guess for now this is the end. This blog is dead.

Things keep changing...

I personally have been confused about why Ben and Jerry's keeps changing things, so I emailed them to see what they had to say:

"I am confused about the way the flavor resurrect contest works. Why do the numbers reset every day? How is it possible to tell who is winning? How does the flavor win? Is it based on total leading days, or cumulative votes? Thanks!"

Their response:

"Micah,We've had problems with people hacking into the system to make their flavor #1. So from here on out we're only going to show votes for one day at a time. When you vote today, you will only see the votes that have gone in today. We'll know which flavor is winning on our end though, and we'll reveal that flavor at the end of the month. The end result of the contest will be based on accurate and fair reporting of individual votes. Thanks for understanding.Ben & Jerry's"

I thought that was a decent answer, however since then things have once again changed. Now it seems that they are only showing the results for the previous day. I am not sure how this prevents inappropriate voting, but I guess they have their reasons.

Everyone please keep up the good work. Thanks!

Disappointing start

Well, I have to say that the first day of voting has been somewhat disappointing. While, FRWB is not dead last, it is certainly trailing by a wide margin. I was with some friends tonight, and I took the opportunity to solicit some votes (You guys better not let me down). Also, I don't get how Holy Cannoli has such a tremendous lead over all the other flavors. I hoped Ben and Jerry's had taken steps to ensure accurate voting since the insane nomination process. However, it doesn't look like anything has changed. Well, everyone that comes here, please comment and let me know you are willing to lend your support. I need something to give me hope.

Thanks!

Voting has skyrocketed!!!

I don't know what has happened over the past few days, but the voting for the top three flavors has gone into the several 100,000's. At times, I have watched the numbers literally go up by 50 a second. To me, this seems like someone has created a hack for the voting process. I've reviewed the code myself, and it seems the once-per-day limit can be circumvented fairly easily. I don't know for sure that this is what has happened, but it is hard to believe that this many people would be voting at once. Who knows, maybe my blog and the submissions I've made to news sites have made more people aware of the contest (I know, wishful thinking).

Another exciting thing that happened: I was contacted by a freelance writer about my campaign for FRWB. She is doing a story about Ben and Jerry's resurrection contest, and I was told that she was submitting a proposal to USA Today. WOOT!

Falling in the polls

I was so excited when I saw that "From Russia with Buzz" had gained 10000 votes almost overnight, but I just checked the latest results and my heart dropped. Cool Britannia has zoomed ahead with over 32000 votes in less than one day, while FRWB has barely moved. Now FRWB is a distant 10000+ votes behind. So, I know everyone thought they could relax since we had such a lead, but this shows how unpredictable the votes are. Please continue to show your support.

Submitted to Digg and Slashdot

I just wanted to let everyone know, I submitted this story to digg.com and slashdot.com and "From Russia with Buzz" has received 10,000 votes overnight! Thanks to everyone who is doing their part to bring it back. Don't forget the preliminary poll ends April 30th. Next month is the final vote, so please don't stop now.
